Camp Musician

Joel Vaughn

Joel Vaughn grew up pursuing this passion – to write songs that could lead people to hope he found in Jesus. As a child he sang in church with his 4 siblings and eventually picked up the guitar at the age of 14. He started writing his own songs in 2004 using a guitar and a digital 8 track recording machine.  Though the songs were crude in production, the melodies were quite good! By 2005 he started touring regionally in the southwest United States while pursuing his undergraduate degree at West Texas A&M University. His trajectory as a Christian Artist began to form in those years by creating the short lived “Vaughn Band” that consisted of himself, his brother Joey, and Joel’s wife Andra. Eventually it was mostly Joel leading worship and performing concerts on his own. In 2013 he was touring consistently, and his music was being played nationally on radio stations as an independent recording artist. In 2015 He was nominated for “The Next Big Thing” award by New Release Today’s We Love Christian Music Awards. The following year He signed his first record deal and within a month his very first radio single “Wide Awake” debuted on Billboard Hot AC and peaked at #16. He has consistently had hit songs chart on Billboard and Mediabase throughout his career with his highest position reaching #11 with “I Look To You” in 2019 on Hot AC and #45 overall on Billboard Christian airplay. Other notable hits like “Pray It Up”, “Friend”, “As You Are”, “Already Done”, and “I Would Be Lost” also saw Billboard and Mediabase success as well. Joel’s sound is maturing with his latest hits like “Friend” and upcoming release, “Where Grace Begins”.
